  • Current understanding of mechanisms of sex steroid action on bone.
  • Clinical implications and applications of mechanistic studies.

  • To review strengths and weaknesses of various approaches to understanding sex steroid action on bone.
  • Understand, based on available evidence, how sex steroids regulate bone metabolism.
  • Review the physiological consequences of sex steroid deficiency on bone.
  • Translate mechanistic information into current and future treatment approaches using sex steroids/analogues for osteoporosis.
