The aim of this ECTS training course is to provide participants with an overview of bone histomorphometry and related topics. The programme will include sessions on the following topics:

  • Histomorphometry
  • Species differences in histomorphometry
  • Bone structural properties – micro-CT, nanoindentation
  • Synchrotrone based investigations of bone material
  • BMDD – computer modelling of mineralization kinetics
  • Immunohistochemistry – extracellular matrix proteins
  • Vibrational spectroscopic methods – FTIRI and Raman
