Development of guidelines for the treatment of osteoporosis

Topics to be covered

The guideline development process will be discussed, using the AGREE appraisal criteria as a framework. The importance of an evidence-based approach will be emphasised as well as the need to incorporate cost-effectiveness analyses. Implementation and audit of guidelines will be covered and similarities and differences in current national osteoporosis guidelines reviewed.
