- What is the purpose of the ECTS Exchange Scholarships?
- The primary aim is to enable researchers to spend time
in another laboratory to learn a technique not used in the
home laboratory. Grants are also available for medical doctors
to attend clinical trails.
- Can I visit any laboratory of my choice?
- The Head of the receiving laboratory must be an ECTS member
unless specific reasons justify a visit to a laboratory
of a non-member. Applicants may visit a non-European laboratory
providing there is no European equivalent. There will be
no extra funding for visiting non-European countries.
- What is the maximum duration supported?
- ECTS Exchange Scholarship Grants support visits of up
to 3 months.
- How much can I apply for?
- The amount will be calculated according to the budget
available, the number of applicants and the total amount
of expenses claimed.
- What is covered by the Grant?
- The Grant is intended as a contribution to travel and
subsistence expenses for the duration of the visit. It does
not include cover for any spouses or dependents.
- What are the criteria for eligibility?
- All applicants must be a member of ECTS

- All applicants must demonstrate that they will apply the
knowledge gained during their visit
- How are ECTS Exchange Scholarship Grants selected?

process. Each application is first checked for eligibility
and then sent to three independent reviewers. These reviewers

than 3 months.
- Reviewers are asked for their opinion on the following
aspects:

- Perceived benefit to the home laboratory
- The feasibility of achieving the goal of the visit
and benefit for the project
